Dengue in Da Nang: symptoms and what to do
From September to December Da Nang gets rain — and more of the mosquitoes that carry dengue. Here's what matters.
How to recognise it
- A sudden fever of 39–40°C.
- A bad headache, pain behind the eyes.
- Aching muscles and joints.
- Sometimes a rash and nausea.
What to do
- For fever — paracetamol only.
- Don't take aspirin or ibuprofen — they raise the risk of bleeding.
- Drink plenty and get a blood test.
See a doctor urgently if, after the fever drops
- Bad stomach pain, vomiting that won't stop.
- Bleeding gums or nose, black stools.
- Weakness and drowsiness.
How to protect yourself
- This mosquito bites by day — use repellent in daytime too.
- Empty standing water: buckets, vases, plant pots.
